Artist Statement (include type of art, techniques & materials used, what it means to you)
Acrylic paint brushes and sponges were used to complete Tempestuous. A woman lost in turmoil and mental suffering journeys out for a walk in a grassy field of colors only to be met with confusion and loss of direction.

Bio (include your age, tumor type and date of diagnosis)
I am 52 years old. I was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor early December 2022. It was removed December 28, 2022 and has been a struggle to heal completely due to continuous swelling and pain in the surgical area. I have not been able to return to work as I did previous to the tumor. I went from being a full time employee to less than 8 hours per week. I have never painted before but had an urge to start playing with sponges and acrylic paint. What followed was pure satisfaction of my completed works and discovery of a hidden coping skill to get me through my days filled with ups downs and in between mood swings due to the side effects of anti siezure medication. Tempestuous was my first of several paintings.
