Artist Statement (include type of art, techniques & materials used, what it means to you)I am Robin Lee and this piece is an acrylic on canvas 16x20” painting. I had been studying Malcolm Liepke’s work and felt inspired. Plus, I wanted to do a more classical style for this piece. She shows the sadness I felt struggling after diagnosis.
Bio (include your age, tumor type and date of diagnosis)I am 59, I had a Pituitary Tumor. I was diagnosed in 1987 at Pomona Valley Hospital in Pomona California. I was spontaneously lactating which was a sign. The subsequent CT/MRI showed my tumor. I was given Bromocriptine and my tumor did shrink. Now I have open space in my brain. But I also just recently suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury and spinal injury (June 2022), and painting has always been my love, my passion, and my safe haven.
