Artist Statement (include type of art, techniques & materials used, what it means to you)
My final pieces are of my best friend, my dog, Dudley.
I took inspiration from artists, David Hockney and Carrie Mckenzie and merged both there styles together. I carbon traced my images with little detail to represent the style of Hockney. With my strengths being the textile area, i incorporated this to my work and stitched over the drawing. To finally accomplish my pieces I filled the blank space with brusho ink adding the inspiration of McKenzie. This added a twist to my piece. It makes you look at my Dalmatian ‘Dudley’ in a alternative way as we usually see Dalmatians as just black and white. The bright colour splash/splat allows a large contrast between the black and white / blank space. Bringing a smile to one looking at the piece
