waiting takes its toll
This piece and poem was inspired by the stress and anxiety that is experienced while waiting.
Not only I, a sibling of someone with cancer, but parents and family members share this experience along with the person with the diagnosis.
I wanted to make something that could connect with everyone. The blue in the background represents the hospital walls where its not quite this natural calming color but almost a shockingly bright baby blue. The clock represents the passing time. The hand with the vine growing through it serves to show growth and creation along with the waiting.
This is a painting made on a canvas using acrylic paints.
Bio (include your age, tumor type and date of diagnosis)Hi! My name is Olivia Weidele, I am currently 16; I am the sibling of Joseph Weidele. My brother (Joe) was diagnosed with craniopharyngioma when I was three and he was five. Due to my age at the time, this truly shaped how I grew up and who I am today.
