waiting waiting waiting
waiting for the next hospital stay
waiting for the end of surgery
waiting for my drawings to live outside of anxiety in the hospital room
drawing drawing drawing
drawing to pass the time
drawing to ease the mind
drawing to soothe the soul
waiting takes its toll
This piece and poem was inspired by the stress and anxiety that is experienced while waiting.
Not only I, a sibling of someone with cancer, but parents and family members share this experience along with the person with the diagnosis.
I wanted to make something that could connect with everyone. The blue in the background represents the hospital walls where its not quite this natural calming color but almost a shockingly bright baby blue. The clock represents the passing time. The hand with the vine growing through it serves to show growth and creation along with the waiting.
This is a painting made on a canvas using acrylic paints. Bio (include your age, tumor type and date of diagnosis)
Hi! My name is Olivia Weidele, I am currently 16; I am the sibling of Joseph Weidele. My brother (Joe) was diagnosed with craniopharyngioma when I was three and he was five. Due to my age at the time, this truly shaped how I grew up and who I am today.
