Artist Statement (include type of art, techniques & materials used, what it means to you)This is a photo I took of my dog Tuxedo on our front porch. I took this photo using my phone. I like the composition, with the yellow pansies on the right edge of the screen contrasting with Tuxedo's profile and his red collar. We adopted Tuxedo in late 2015 and he is about 8 years old. Tuxedo got his name because most of his body is black, except for his mostly white chest and feet. Hev has many nicknames, the most popular of which are Tux, Tuxy, and Doug. Tuxedo is very important to me. We have had him since before I was diagnosed and I was happy to see him after I got out of the hospital. He is a very solid and comforting dog. Even though I do have people in my life who I feel comfortable talking to when I need someone to talk to, Tuxedo is very easy to talk to and is always there for me.
Bio (include your age, tumor type and date of diagnosis)My name is Will Mumford. I was diagnosed with a craniopharyngioma brain tumor in August of 2017, when I was 14. I am now 20 years old. I really enjoy art, mainly 3D art, and I like to reflect parts of my life through my art. Within 3D art, I am unable to choose one specific medium. I am always working on an art project and I find art very enjoyable. I find it easier to relax when I am working on something I enjoy. I like using clay, plaster, wire, beads, paper, recycled materials and much more. I am currently attending Anne Arundel Community College. This is my sixth year entering and I hope to enter for many years to come.
