Artist Statement (include type of art, techniques & materials used, what it means to you)This piece was created from a rock found on the beach at Paine’s Creek in Brewster, Cape Cod Massachusetts. I used acrylic paints to create a beach scene that is reminiscent of my many times on the beach in a place I love so much. My family and I have spent many summer vacations on the Cape and this rock now has a special place in our home as well as my heart.
Artist Bio: Tell Us Your StoryI was diagnosed with a germinoma after having an open brain biopsy/craniotomy at age 14 in 2021. I underwent both chemotherapy and radiation therapy. While I have many daily challenges including visual deficits, art helps me find my calm and create works that I can share with my family and friends and beyond! While using acrylics is my favorite medium I enjoy working with water colors and oil pastels too.
