Artist Statement (include type of art, techniques & materials used, what it means to you)This piece is a 3D sculpture created using twisted colored cords, puzzle pieces, and a shaped base to represent the human brain. I used a technique of weaving and layering cords to create texture and movement, symbolizing the complexity and strength within the brain. The puzzle pieces, scattered and colorful, represent the many challenges, memories, and emotions that come with a brain tumor journey — some pieces feeling lost, and others still fitting perfectly into place.
This project means a lot to me because it honors my friend Claire, who has shown incredible courage in her fight against a brain tumor. Watching her stay strong through every uncertainty inspired me to create something that captures both the struggles and the beauty of resilience. Each twist, each piece, and each color carries the message that even when life feels scattered or broken, there is still so much strength, hope, and connection within.
Artist Bio: Tell Us Your StoryI created this sculpture as a supporter, inspired by my friend Claire and her incredible journey with a brain tumor. Claire’s bravery, even in the most uncertain and difficult moments, has left a deep impact on my life. Being by her side, I witnessed not only the fear and challenges but also the unbelievable strength and hope she carried with her every day.
This piece is my way of showing that supporters, like friends and family, walk this journey too — offering love, encouragement, and a reminder that no one fights alone. Every puzzle piece and twist of cord in my sculpture is a symbol of the battles fought silently and the victories, both big and small, that deserve to be celebrated. Through my art, I want to honor Claire’s strength and to stand in support of everyone touched by brain tumors, showing that even when life feels like a scattered puzzle, there is always beauty and hope to be found.
