Entrant's First Name
My husband Brayden and I were on our way home from camping when we spotted a white fur ball blowing down the 4-lane highway, just a mile from our house. It took a minute to realize that this tiny tumbling thing was alive. We did a U-turn and saw a kitten perched in the middle of the road with three cars quickly approaching. As we watched in horror from the median, Brayden laid on the horn and the nearest car swerved to narrowly miss the kitten as he scurried to the grass.
I jumped out of the car and ran after the kitten who did NOT want to be caught. I feared that he had been hit by one of the cars, but he appeared to be moving with no trouble. In the meantime, Brayden had parked the car down the street and was running after us. We cornered the kitten and Brayden managed to grab him. I ran back to the car to grab a towel and we wrapped the kitten up like a burrito.
He was miraculously unharmed! The next day, I took him to Asheville Humane Society, but since he was so young and terrified of people, he needed a foster home. I was up for the challenge, and over the course of 2 weeks, I was able to build trust by tooth-brushing his fur and offering LOTS of wet food. We lovingly named him "Tumbleweed" because of his resemblance to one when he first saw him.
Once it was time to bring him back to AHS, we couldn't part with him and decided to adopt! It's now been 8 months and Tumbleweed has turned into a loving adolescent! He enjoys wrestling with his kitty-brother Asher, sitting in his catio, and chatting to his heart's content!
Please vote for Tumbleweed!
