Pet's Story
I came to the Asheville Humane Society in the Fall of 2017 looking to give a special dog a forever home. After going through the section of housing for the dogs, I immediately was drawn towards a little Jack Russell/Dachshund mix who was so adorable, but somewhat aggressive and scared. I asked one of the volunteers if I could spend a little time with Andy. It was explained to me that every day he had to be separated from human interaction for a couple hours as it was very stressful for him. He was very hesitant to meet me as he was not trusting of people, but after about an hour of spending time with me and my bestfriend (Ed) we had won over his trust. I ended up taking him home that day. It took quite some time to break his nervous habits that caused barking at anyone and accidents in the house. Now he is a very happy and sweet little fella, and for the most part he is living his best life! He loves other animals (especially cats), rolling in the grass, and taking rides anywhere. I'm so thankful to have him in my life, we are two peas in a pod.
