Pet's Story
Belinski was not the companion dog I had in mind for my hearing-impaired rat terrier Buttercup. When I walked into his cage area, I could see he was overwhelmed by the barking dogs around him and was curled up in the smallest ball possible. I sat on the floor next to his cage with my hand close so he could sniff me. It took 15 minutes but he uncurled himself and allowed me to pet his head. Once we got a leash on him and took him outside, he became a different dog altogether and I knew he was coming home with me. When I adopted him he only weighed 55 lbs. but now he is about 85 lbs. and shows his Great Dane pit bull ancestry. What a love bug AND a fabulous watchdog he is...and he and Buttercup are best buddies!
