Pet's Story
This little snorty smoosh-face was brought into the shelter by Animal Services a little over a year ago. She only weighed 4 lbs, with scraggly mats in her patchy fur. When I began her intake she leaned into my chest and patiently let me cut out her dreads and clean out her filthy ears. I took her home to foster that night, and instantly knew that I could not bring her back. Her face is so smooshed, her nose is actually concave. The tip of her tail is bent at a 90 degree angle, and her back legs are longer than her front, giving her a clumsy but impossibly charming gait. I have to wipe her slightly wall-eyed little eyes several times a day, which she gratefully purrs through. Her catfish whiskers tickle my cheek, as she insists I cuddle her like a teddy bear every night. I am still amazed by her sweet and unmatched gentle nature. Each day I come home from work to her demanding meows while she herds me towards the bedroom for snuggles, unable to imagine what I possibly could have been doing all day that would be better than napping with her. She is now a healthy 8 lbs and her coat is as thick and majestic as the Himalayan snow. I will be forever indebted to whatever stars aligned to bring her to the shelter that day, leaving a muppety paw print on my heart forever.
