Your Pet's Story or Bio
Holly was an Atlanta Humane Society rescue from a puppy mill where she'd been a mama dog. She was three years old when I adopted her and had just had a litter.
All her babies got adopted for quite a lot of money, but nobody wanted Holly. She trembled constantly, couldn't look you in the eye, cringed when I tried to pet her head, and kept her tail tucked tight under her body. And she never barked. She'd been in a cage all her life, and one back leg was shriveled. I had to show her how to go up stairs. She was a totally broken creature.
It took a long time but after a while her little tail started to move upward. Then one day she barked for the first time. She had just used her training pad in the kitchen and was barking for me to come see.
Holly will always suffer remnants of that puppy mill, but now she runs, she smiles, she plays, she loves to have her head petted, and her tail stays curled up on her back. She's always been a sweet dog, but now she's a happy dog as well.
