Pet's Story
Maggie is a wire hair dachshund mix who was adopted from a shelter in Canon City. She lived with that family for several years before being left at a shelter in Denver when she was about 9 years old. We fostered her and fell in love and adopted her. Maggie has been with us for 5 years. She is sweet, smart, fun-loving, sensitive and loyal. Maggie aims to please. Despite her non-dominating ways, she has used her quiet endearing charm to become the ruler of our home. One of her methods is to sit up on her haunches and paw the air to get everyone's attention. Someone working at the Denver shelter labeled this "prairie dogging" and the label has stuck. When she is happy, she wags her tail back and forth. When she is joyous, that tail goes in an animated circle. The things that make her happiest are being with her family, going for hikes and walks, massages, treats and nose work. When she runs, her ears flap up and down. Adorable.
