Pet's Story
Charles is a Treeing Walker Coonhound who was abandoned in the woods near Greenville, Mississippi in the summer of 2013. He was found with a tag and GPS tracking collar by a veterinarian. The owner was contacted but he no longer wanted the dog. The veterinarian repaired Charles' torn knee ligament and gave him a home at his animal hospital for a year. During that time, Charles was a blood donor for other dogs who needed blood transfusions. In the summer of 2014, many individuals assisted with his transport to Colfax Pet Rescue in northern New Mexico. I found his "courtesy" posting on the Colorado Animal Rescue site for senior dogs about two months after he arrived in New Mexico. Charles (named by the veterinarian's daughter) is a true southern gentleman and a real sweetheart!
