A little about me...
Poppet was adopted from Persian Rescue of Virginia when he was approximately 3 years old (he had been put up for adoption due to a serious case of ringworm). When we met him, Margarete, told us "watch out, he's a spitfire." She meant, apparently, a spitfire for a Persian. Since that day, 14 years ago, he has moved from cat bed to couch (he always joins us for family movies) and then to our bed where he takes up as much room as a 10 lb creature who is all personality and fur can occupy; he also, on occasion, has stretched out his paw to "get" a string, but only if dangled directly in front of his paw. He is our most beloved family member (please don't tell the kids or his cat sister or hamster brother). He is dignified, always calm, with the most gentle demeanor, comforting and cuddleable with a dash curmudgeon, befitting a 17-year old, in a Winston Churchill, patriarch kind of way. His nicknames are Pops, Pop Secret, and Poppin' Fresh Dough. This contest is a chance to celebrate Poppet (if he wins, he gets his photograph on the cover of the animal shelter's calendar and on Alexandria buses!) while supporting our local animal shelter. Every dollar contributed is a vote for Poppet and a contribution to the good works of the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria. Thank you for considering Poppet.
