A little about me...I adopted Bear from Lost Dog and Cat Rescue in June 2020 at the beginning of the Covid pandemic. My Harrier, Motley, had passed away and I decided to become a Foster. Bear was a 2-year-old Lab puppy who came from a hoarding home. He had absolutely no training, didn't know how to play with toys, was afraid of the water, and didn't know what "treats" were. He just craved attention that he didn't get as a puppy.
I found him a good home, but after two weeks we had become attached to each other, and I couldn't let him go to another home. I foster failed. Bear saved my sanity during the pandemic. With nothing to do and nowhere to go we took 4 long walks every day totaling 8 - 10 miles. This is when we did most of his training. He is very smart and he learned quickly. Now 5 years later, Bear is a wonderful companion who keeps me laughing every day. He is a sweet, smart, affectionate, goofy, "couch potato" who loves people, and can’t contain his excitement when meeting them. Bear loves his walks, being in his yard or on the screened porch watching the world go by, and life in general. Thanks to Bear, I love my life too!
If your animal is from a specific animal shelter/rescue organization, let us know what organization. If they're an Animal Welfare League of Alexandria alum, their photo will have a special badge in the printed calendar!Lost Dog and Cat Rescue
