Lily Pickles arrived at the Animal Welfare League of Arlington (AWLA) in February 2023 as a stray, suffering from severe dermatitis and allergies. Thanks to the AWLA, Lily made a fast recovery and an even faster leap into our hearts. Lily is a joyful, silly, and confident girl who makes fast friends with everyone she comes across. Her hobbies include: waiting for a pup cup outside of Starbucks and getting cooed at by all the customers; roasting herself on our sun-scorched patio and in front of our fireplace; and destroying every cardboard box and paper bag in a 3 mile radius. A true velcro dog, Lily’s greatest love is sleeping on top of her mom and using her face as a pillow. As a featured story in AWLA’s 80th anniversary report, Lily’s adoption is an example of how evidence-based, inclusive, and compassionate animal services create stronger communities.
