Special tricks or characteristicsA few months after losing our 12-year old lab-mix Ryleigh to cancer, we decided to adopt a new pit bull-mix puppy to bring some life back into our family. After grieving such a huge presence in our family, we were so excited to adopt Nami, who is a bundle of snuggles and sunshine. She fit right in! She fell in love with her big sisters, Lana (12-year-old Pit Bull) and Eliza (2 year old human-baby). Lana suddenly turned back into a puppy herself and loved playing with Nami, before passing in January. Through so much loss, Nami has been our ray of sunshine. Nami’s special trick is putting a smile on anyone’s face that she comes around. She’s so gentle and snuggly, knowing when you need a warm snuggle on the couch or a sloppy puppy kiss.
In her routine check-up, the vet found a loud heart murmur. After conducting an ECHO, they discovered that she has heart defect consistent with pulmonic stenosis. This means the valve in her heart does not function properly. She had a provide at NCSU to correct her heart and has healed wonderfully. She was on strict instructions to not raise her heart rate for three whole months, which was so tough for her. Now she races around the back yard at full speed.
I’m royalty because…I never tear up my big sister’s human toys anymore. In my short one year of life, I’ve been through so much with my heart condition and losing my big sister, but I still wag my whole body when I wag my tail.
