Montgomery (Monty or Precious Prince, as his dads tend to call him) came to us in 2021, a senior rescue from Tennessee whose owner had passed during COVID. We stopped by the rescue while visiting my parents to see another dog who'd already been adopted. We met "Mr. Peanuts," as he was called by the agency, and took him to my parent's house for a trial. A week later, we'd signed the papers and buckled him into the back seat of our car, his furled brow transformed into a comical grin. He's been by our side since, as the perfect travel companion, snuggle buddy, and dinner date. A shih tzu–chihuahua mix (aka ShiChi), he loves nothing more than a nice long nap followed by going straight to bed.
