Pet's Story or Bio
Harper is a good ol' hound dog that was picked up in rural Kentucky with a serious leg injury. The shelter determined that he was a victim of a gunshot wound and required extensive rehab (enter earth angels Charmaine and Dennis). His leg was shattered and required months of casting and splinting before he was finally ready for adoption. Luckily, we were looking for a new dog to add to our pack and stumbled upon Harper's photo and bio at Barks and Meows Rescue. I can't believe we were chosen as his new family, but it was the soft brown eyes that first captivated us. Then, we found out that he loves to cuddle. Then we discovered that he also likes to sing. He accompanies us when we play the piano or the harmonica.
Harper is a hero to us (and his multiple Facebook followers) because he retains a joy for life.He loves people, dogs, and cats. He now spends his days exploring his own private dog park in Tillsonburg where the bunny rabbits, squirrels, and birds have learned to recognize the CALL OF THE HOUND and scatter to the four corners as he sprints to chase them. When they're gone, he follows the scent trails left behind for hours. He also discovered we have fruit trees and enjoys snacking on pears and apples.
Harper is forever indebted to Barks and Meows for giving him a second chance at life, for saving his leg, and for letting him be the best (and loudest) hound he can be. Thank you to Charmaine and Dennis for their heroic efforts in saving this wonderful dog and giving him a new lease/leash on life.
