It was a fairly windy day at Lost Lagoon at Stanley Park. The place is just full of Great Blue Heron-
so much so that I decided a couple of years ago that the literally thousands of Great Blue Heron
photos I have taken over the last decade or so are probably almost enough, and that I wasn’t going
to take any more unless they were different in some way from what I currently have. It’s a hard rule
for me to follow as they are such beautiful birds, and in the end I always seem to come home each
week with more and more heron shots. This one was unique though. All the conditions were perfect.
The heron was close enough, the wind was strong enough and blowing in the right direction, and his
back was towards me. I love this shot, and is probably one of my favourite 2 or 3 heron photos-
just for the whimsical nature of it.
