Every year I come back to the same lake near 100 mile house for some downtime. There has always been an old abandoned barn near the dirt road short of the cabin where I've spotted adult Red Foxes hanging around before, but they are often shy and elusive. Approaching in a vehicle, getting a good look at a fox can be challenging as often once the window gets rolled down they're off like a shot. This year though? I was shocked and amazed to find an entire family just soaking in the afternoon sun. Mum came out occasionally to gauge the safety of her offspring while I hung around. The kits themselves were apprehensive, but after only a few minutes they began to play again without hesitation. This was my favorite shot of the day. I picked this one because the family is posed as if the oldest of the bunch is standing watch while the others keep their eyes on me under the protection of big sis or bro. I won't soon forget this short moment. I feel quite fortunate to have been able to get some photos that will preserve the memory of such an incredible occasion.
