Settling in behind a downed tree while this beaver grazed on some grass shoots I assumed it would swim away and go about its business. To my surprise after slipping into the water it surfaced dead ahead, coming right at me. Making its way out of the water no more than 20ft away, it walked its way past even closer, both of us keeping an eye on each other but with an air of trust.
