This lovely tree was home to a family of racoons in spring and early summer while the three kits were still very little. As the days got longer and warmer I was sometimes able to spot the kits peering out their little entry, gazing at the world with fresh eyes.
I love this particular image as the little racoon looks curious and very shy at the same time, giving the impression that he or she is contemplating what the world out there is like.
