Buttertubs Marsh
This description may appear alongside winning photos featured in prize items.
Waking up around dusk, this raccoon is on the hunt for turtle eggs.
There was a time Buttertubs Marsh lived in an ecological harmony, but due to subsidized food from garbage, the raccoon population has grown, while the native western painted turtles face new competition from red eared sliders and bullfrogs.
Fortunately, volunteers with NALT are on the ground putting covers on endangered turtle nests, thwarting nature's best bandit.
