This description may appear alongside winning photos featured in prize items.Don't know who to vote for, but want to support animals in care at the BC SPCA’s Wild Animal Rehabilitation Centre (Wild ARC)? You can donate to vote for this American Kestrel who was a patient at Wild ARC this spring! This fledgling kestrel was found on the ground between two airplane hangars. Unable to fly and with a nest so high up it was thought he may have been injured in the fall, he was immediately brought to Wild ARC for assessment by our skilled wildlife rehabilitators. Luckily, the fledgling was perfectly healthy and quite feisty, but still needed time to develop his flying skills. The nest was too high and inaccessible for a reunion with his parents, so this young kestrel spent a couple of weeks at Wild ARC learning the skills needed to thrive in the wild. Once flight and hunting skills were perfected, the kestrel was ready for release in late June for a second chance at life.
Don’t let time run out, donate to vote for this photo to show your support for Wild ARC. And don’t worry, this isn’t an official contest entry and won’t steal a spot from any of the other incredible photos!
