Maggie Mae is a 10 year old Maltese. She thinks that she is still a puppy and has lots of energy for her walks and guarding her yard. She also is known as the guard dog of 5th Street in Sidney, B.C. as she sits on the back of the living room sofa looking out of the picture window. She watches all of the traffic going by, especially the human walkers and their dogs. She knows all the regulars and will just look out at them and wag her tail, but if it's a new pup in town she makes sure that she lets it know who is the alpha dog at this address and that he or she is walking on her sidewalk. Everyone knows her on her walk, with her pink outfits and hair bow. They stop and say Hi, but Maggie has one thing on her mind and she is walking and marking just to make sure the other guys in town know that she is around, and she has no time to socialize while she's on her walk.
She recently had a toe amputated, us humans thinking that it was cancerous and fortunately it was a benign epithelial inclusion cyst. She was unable to do her walks for a while and when I was out people would stop me and ask "Where's Maggie Mae". Amazing how many persons this little girl has touched.
She loves playing fetch-it-up with her Dad and has the timing down pat at 3:00 pm everyday. There's no fooling with her internal timer. Of course the good girl treats are probably what twigs her mind.
She has an extensive vocabulary and continues to build on it every day.
She is very trusting and will allow me to care for all her needs without any balking or crying or wimping, even when I know' that as gentle as I can be' that it must be uncomfortable, i.e. her dressing changes etc. She's very tolerant with her daily morning grooming, eye washing, teeth brushing and her coast brushing & combing, and of course her little pink bow. Shae then prances around and is ready for the day.
We love her dearly and she loves us unconditionally, she fulfills our lives and gives us laughter and happiness. She's our bestest friend and little girl.
