Bio
Jasmine is a true rescue cat - in every sense of the word. Surrounded by shredded plastic, she and her brother were lifted off a rock in the middle of the Campbell River by a caring young fisherman and brought home in his creel. I was privileged to know his family, who could not keep her, and so she has been at my side for 10 years. Her friendly manner, expressive face and curious nature never fail to amuse and comfort me. She is a "people" cat and always checks out my visitors, often ending up on their laps - invited or not! I recently received a young service dog, and while the jury is still out on her feelings about him, she has graciously allowed him a spot by the fire and generally tolerated his exuberance. I live alone and have been medicated for chronic depression for many years. Jasmine has been a lifeline for me at times - her soulful eyes, soft, soft fur and warm, rumbling purr have provided much needed comfort and, occasionally, a reason to get out of bed. I am reminded of her traumatic beginning in life whenever I shake out a plastic grocery bag, and try to do so as infrequently as possible. I've given her all the love and care she needs and deserves and I have been richly compensated with sweet kitty hugs and devotion.
