Griz chose us and our 10 year old black lab Blaze, happily approved, at Vernon SPCA , on July 24, 2014. We knew from first site he was full of character and would be an awesome addition to our family with two young girls.
Griz was only 8 weeks old when he came home with us and he needed lots of TLC because he had a belly hernia with stitches(which required an extra vet visit), and bandages on his hind legs after due claw removal. With four of us at home, he always had someone at his side to carry him down the stairs to the yard.
Griz grew quickly, and his size even surprised our vet at his last check up! He now weighs 97 pounds of German shepherd and giant schnauzer muscle and fur.
Griz lets us know when an emergency vehicle is enroute with his loud howl, which is quite entertaining! He's a very vocal dog and engages in our conversations.
He likes to spend his time hiking up the mountain and exploring following his nose. Griz also enjoys trotting at my side while I run 3-8 km, and he still has energy to spare! Griz will also, join us on our paddle boards and the rest of our outside family adventures.
On a typical weekday, he sits at the picture window and watches us leave for school and work and is in the same place when we arrive home before he runs down to the door to greet us with love!
As long as we are together, he is a happy loyal dog who makes us smile constantly.
