In 2013 we were blessed with Maija, our beautiful dog. Maija didn't exactly get a great start in this world; she was 8 months old, had never been inside, and had been punished by being dragged behind a truck down a gravel road. When we met Maija she had successful surgery to rebuild her back leg but was still very weak, in a lot of pain, and full of worms. One look into Maija's beautiful brown eyes and we knew we had to have her so we campaigned successfully against hundreds of other potential adopters and won. We brought her home, washed her wounds, cleaned her drainage tubes, dewormed her and brought her up to a healthy weight. She had a lot of bad behaviours, and still does, but that's understandable when you think about her formative years. Maija has overcome unthinkable obstacles and shown our family how precious life really is.
