BioIn 2009 I was volunteering as a dog walker at the Victoria SPCA branch. During my time there I met a 6 year old Pitbull named Zeus and we ended up together for the next 6 years, until he ventured over the Rainbow Bridge in January 2016.
For the next year I was dog-less, the first time in about 25 years. By early January 2017 though, I was ready for a new pal and on January 7th, Magnus a two year old Pitbull came into my life.
That day, January 7th was a bittersweet day for me. My mother had passed away earlier that morning, and later that afternoon I picked Magnus up from his foster. Some would say the timing of events were by design. I can't say, but without question, having Magnus here has helped me in processing the grief of my mother's passing.
Magnus came to me through another Vancouver Island rescue and suffers from a bit of anxiety, but we're working through that with LOTS of treats in scary situations. At home though, he's by far the most affectionate dog I've ever lived with, essentially a 50+ lb lap dog, or so he thinks. I'm sure his thinking is something along the lines of "Naps are better on daddy's lap." =)
