The separation anxiety cat

Tonic the cat was adopted from a shelter
To fill a missing void of his new family members
While his new 80lb Husky sister was indifferent
Her size initially gave poor Tonic an ailment

Upon realizing his sister was just a big gentle giant
He would claim his sister's bed when it was vacant
The bond between the siblings was a peculiar one
They would only stare at each without having any fun

Then a miracle occurred where they acted very similar
Both would greet you at the door with a whimper
It was like having two dogs again and it was a pleasure
For the void that was once lost was due to canine cancer

Two years would passed and all was a bliss
Tonic's youthful energy was like a breezy kiss
Some scratches and bites that didn't make sense
But he is a feline with a canine pretense

Sadly, the sickness that claimed the Tonic's predecessor
Now came for the Husky princess - it was cancer
But Tonic rose to the dilemma as her valiant knight
As he would sleep beside her throughout the nights

Two additional months was all the family could get
Moving forward with hearts full of grief and regret
But alas, Tonic now plays a much bigger role
As he continues to heal his parents' souls

He has become even more needy than before
Where his constant attachment soothes to their cores
Wounds are suppose to heal with time and will fade
But having a separation anxiety cat is a great aid
