BioGlenny boy is one of his nicknames and he is such a sweet boy too! When I first saw him he was in a cage waiting to be adopted. No one had wanted to adopt him because he is black and had been badly abused by his previous family. He was a very frightened kitty! He had been kicked in his mouth by a animal abuser, was rescued by the SPCA from a drug lab with several other animals! He had to have surgery to remove the crooked teeth that had grown horizontally when he was a kitten! I'm not sure why someone like that would be allowed pets, so Glenny waited for a year for his forever family to take him to his forever home..
I returned 2 times that week because I didn't have the adoption fee and was afraid he would be gone when I returned. I asked the person looking after him if they could hold him until my return and they said they would. Bless their heart! When payday rolled around I headed strait over to get him.
Coming home was a little rough on him because our ginger kitty, Mauly was none too pleased to meet him; she immediately chased him under our bed where he stayed all week. I brought him food and water and a scratch box and placed them near the bed, then I laid down on the carpet and gently talked to him every evening after work giving him love and attention until one morning I found him laying on my feet on the bed. He let me pet him and I gave him treats. He purred for a moment until Mauly chased him away again, but only for a short while because he came out moments later to rub up against my feet as if to say "I claim you, you're mine", I was hooked!
Eventually Mauly accepted him and we all became a happy family. That was over 11yrs ago now and we can't imagine life without him and his funny little ways. Like playing fetch is one of his all time favorite things to do and when he's done he loves to squeeze into the smallest box in the room and have a snooze, just like he was doing when I snapped this photo haha! He likes to find my house coat tie and drag it around the hall while meowing loudly.
My husband adores our cats and can't wait to come home after work. He likes to tell his co workers at the end of the day " now lets all go home to our wives and cats" or something like that lol.
At dinner time Glenny has aquired his own seat at the dinner table. We have 3 chairs and we only really need two for my husband and I, however; Glenny sits in it just before dinner is served and gets prepared for his ends. He'll jump down and sit calmly in front of my husband knowing full well my husband has cut up tiny little pieces of chicken or pork or salmon just for him... admittedly I have a tiny bite or two reserved just for him as well. Oops don't tell haha.
My husband says Glenny adores me and has since the day we met, I think he maybe right since he's like my shadow and loves his hourly hugs... I wonder how he manages when I'm at work lol. Sweet boy, when I'm sick with the flu he doesn't leave my side and will attempt to clean the back of my hands and sleep with me, I find it comforting!
Since Glenny seems to live with shadows of his past and seems to have PTSD as a result, he will become scared of unknown sounds or loud noises and will run and hide somewhere. It became clear that he required assistance in having a safe place to hide, so my husband built a hidey hole for him made up of an old wooden utility shelf and covered the very bottom like a tiny shelter with cardboard and blankets, we put it by the balcony, in the living room and it has my sweater and my husbands old jacket in it... he uses it less now than he used to because he feels safe with us and doesn't need it as much anymore.
Sometimes... you can catch Glenny napping with Mauly and they have been known to look for each other when one is in another room. That's a far cry from how it was over 11yrs ago when I brought him home from the SPCA in Abbotsford. He's a sweet boy and we are all so lucky to have him in our family! We now live in Victoria BC, so he braved the trip over here on the BC Ferries and moved to a strange new city. That's trust and complete devotion to not run away as he could of at one point during the big move and he chose not to. He knows we are his forever family!
