Kitty was a rescue from the Nelson SPCA. She and 30+ of her relatives came in from a hoarding situation. There were kittens, ranging in age from a day old up to 6 months. There were pregnant moms due any day. Most had little to no socialization with people. All were very sick with upper respiratory infections, eye and ear infections. Some much worse. A few of the youngest did not survive. Some of the moms birthed stillborns. It took many months of extensive care and love before they were well again. All found amazing homes.
Kitty came to us pregnant and sick. She was not healthy enough to support the babies she carried and ultimately adorted them a few weeks later. She would remain on antibiotics for another month to get strong and healthy again. How could we not adopt her after all we had been through together.
Kitty is now the most amazing addition to our family. She is so affectionate and loving. She will not let you start the day until she is satisfied she has been picked up and shown you she loves and missed you.
She plays endlessly, carrying around toys in her mouth like a dog. She makes sure to tell you she has it too and with vigour. She races around the house leaping over couches, climbing scratching posts and tossing her toys around. She'll tell you about that too. She needs you to know about everything. It's adorable.
We love Kitty so much and cannot imagine her not being in our family. She will climb up on our laps the moment we sit. She gives us so much love, she gives the best hugs.
We can't imagine what life was like for her and her relatives. What would have become of them had they not been rescued and taken in by the SPCA and the amazing volunteers that support the great work they do for all animals in need.
