Meet our handsome boy, Drake. He is a cross between a Chocolate Point Siamese and we think a Tabby, given that he has some faint stripes up his legs.

It was a Saturday afternoon last November when we came across the pictures of 3 kittens, who were only 10 weeks old and had just arrived at the Poco SPCA. So we packed up the kids and headed over immediately!

3 brothers had come in for adoption, one was already gone and the other two had an application pending. Just in case the application didn't go through we thought it would be best to get in line and spend some time with the two kittens. When our kids first walked in and approached the kittens, the one brother hissed at our son and the other (Drake), came out instantly to greet them. It was love at first sight. And cats pick their owners, not the other way around, right? So lucky for us by the application in front of us was denied and we ended up taking Drake home that day.

He was completely comfortable with our home almost immediately, exploring all the places he can go. Drake has been an amazing addition to the family. His personality is very warming, he enjoys the kids and is an all around fun cat. Sometimes you may even wake up in the middle of the night with a Drake sleeping on your pillow right above your head.

Once Drake was settled, we had to bring him in for his check up's.
Following Drake's check up we found out that he had a heart murmur. That could mean many different things so we investigated further and unfortunately the Vet discovered that Drake was born with a small hole in his heart. Nothing we can really do, other than keep an eye on him and get an ultrasound done annually. Hopefully the love of our family will fill the little hole in his heart and keep him around with us for many years to come.

We were really happy we could adopt Drake from the SPCA and provide him with a loving home. Thanks to the folks at SPCA Poco!
