Bio
Skilly was a stray cat who was a favourite of Winskill pool in Tsawwassen. She would open the automative doors with her body and wander in to get treats and greet people. Nobody was sure where she came from, but she seemed to love people and children and would actually climb into peoples cars and go home with them. They'd always bring her back to the pool. She'd hang around the soccer field and the Boys and Girls club. Even the customers of the swimming pool would bring food for her. She'd sleep in the entrance of the pool until someone would come in the morning to open it and sometimes would be left inside the pool. They empolyees of Windskill didn't think it was safe and took her to the shelter as no one would come to the pool to claim her. She was at the Shelter for only a week when I was there looking for a kitty. I had just lost my cat, Oliver, of 13 years to cancer and needed someone or some kitty to cheer me up. There she was sitting on the scratching post watching the birds out the window. We bonded right away. I work as an Educational Assistant in an Elementary School in Tsawwassen. When I came to school the next day and told the grade 3/4 students that I adopted the cat that was hanging around Windskill, they all said they knew her as they saw her either in the pool or at the boys and girls club or on the soccor field. She is the only cat I've owned that really loves young children!! I know it's the result of being around the pool because the children there loved her and would see her in the change rooms trying to squeeze into the cubby's to sleep. (As a result, she loves water and drinks from the bathtub tap and a watering can, she doesn't like bowls) Her name, at the time was Mousey, as apparently she was a good mouser. I did not like that name and was having a hard time picking a name for her. One of the students said I should name her Windskill because that was where she hung around for the last year. I thought that was a great idea! She is regetstered as Windskill Gilbert and Skilly for short. She suits her name very well. Skilly is 3 years old and I have had her for a little over a year. I live on a float home with lots of docks to walk on and Skilly has taken to the leash very well. She loves to stalk the, birds, ducks, seaguls and the swans but can't get anywhere near them on her leash because I am at the other end. She is very funny to watch and very happy to go for her walks. She is very happy in her forever home and we are so very happy to have adopted this wonderful loving little cat.
