I am a locum veterinarian who's had the honour of working at the SPCA hospital for a while and witnessing the deep devotion of people to their animals, which often came at a sacrifice to their own modest means. The newest member of our family is Tilly, a spayed female rex rabbit adopted from the Campbell River SPCA. She had led a feral existence for the first year of her life, belonging to one of the sadly numerous colonies of abandoned rabbits. Much of my free time now is devoted to promoting rabbit ownership and a better understanding of these proud animals with unique needs. They can bring so much joy into our lives!
