Animal BioAudi and Arlo are both rescues from Northern BC and Northern Alberta. Though they look alike, they each have their own unique story and are from completely different places. A trainer we worked with told us "I have never seen two dogs who are not litter mates as attached as these two are."
We adopted Audi from our local SPCA when he was 3 months old. Audi ended up needing hip surgery on both hips when he was just 6 months old. A lengthy and costly procedure was literally needed to save his life. With time, rehabilitation and exercise, Audi has healed to the point where it is difficult to tell he even had surgery. He runs and plays like any typical dog and is as happy as can be.
When Audi had turned 1, we found a lady in Northern Alberta giving away puppies. Because of her location, it was difficult for her to find a rescue willing to take on 3 large breed puppies. We drove 7 hours up North to pick up Arlo and her 2 sisters. We transferred Arlo's sisters to a local rescue close to Edmonton and took her to our vet for a check up and a bath. She was sick, malnourished and extremely food aggressive. Over the course of several months, Arlo began to gain weight, learn how to share food, and recover. Looking at her today, you would have never known the shape she was in as a puppy at 10 weeks.
Audi and Arlo are living proof that adopting does make a difference. We love living our life with these two sweet, but big, fur pups.
