Entrant's First Name
Cynthia Friedman

Animal Bio
Khloe - a Sphynx cat! - was found wandering around a trailer park in Kamloops, BC during the cold month of December. She was brought into the SPCA where she was treated for various infections and sent to foster care. Undersized, Khloe could not jump, could not go downstairs, and did not know what a litter box was.

Cynthia then started to receive calls from friends who saw Khloe up for adoption at the SPCA, knowing that Cynthia has cared for many Sphynx cats before. She gladly adopted Khloe, and embarked upon a difficult training mission, for Khloe, tiny as she is, was stubborn and full of personality. It took three years before Khloe was able to dedicate herself to the litterbox. She had no difficulties becoming an indoor cat, as she readily became friends with Cynthia's other Sphynx, Azura, and mortal enemy of Cynthia's other SPCA cat, Kepler, a big hairy boy who has no clue Khloe is his nemesis. Khloe constantly stalks him and makes feeble swipes at him. He provides Khloe with great entertainment, even if he doesn't know it.

Khloe, like Azura, requires frequent baths, ear cleaning, and other ablutions, for the lack of hair means that any air particulates land directly on the cat's body. Moreover, the body oils, which would normally condition the fur, instead accumulate on the skin (and anything the skin contacts). A misconception about Sphynxes is that they are hypoallergenic; this is far from the case, as their secretions are even more likely to contact humans.

Khloe provides the family with hours of entertainment, for she is very vocal and highly intelligent. She recognizes many words, including any related to food or treats, and she also knows to look at a particular family member when their name is mentioned (especially Kepler's; she is always aware of Kepler).

Her intelligence and ability to have survived Kamloops in winter is highly inspirational. By all accounts, she was in very rough shape when she was rescued. Now she can spend her days cuddling with all family members (except Kepler, whom she chases, even though he is three times her size). She is a really cuddly, friendly girl and we are all very happy she found her way into our lives.
