Mackie was found running wild on a forestry road in Alberta about 6-8 months old skinny as a rail and with no ID or tattoo. The forestry worker who found him took him home and then put him into the system run by the Golden Retreiver Rescue Assoc. Of Alberta. Our daughter in Calgary knew we were looking for an adult golden and noticed him on the Assoc. web site.

She picked him up for us, and drove him out to us on Vancouver Island. It was love at first sight, but we had a 1 yr old dog on our hands who knew NOTHING. Nobody had taught him anything. And we had to build a fence around a small part of our 4 acre property to keep him at home.

Well 1 1/2 Years later we have an absolutely gem of a pure bred Golden. What a treasure! He’s our 5th Golden in our lives and the best one. We’ve taught him a few essentials to life in the country, including ‘coming when he’s called’. It’s amazing what a few treats will do. He keeps we Seniors, active, engaged, and healthy. And we have the pleasure of the best rescue dog in the world!!
