A letter to Spritz:

To my little girl,

I was in elementary school when my mom showed me a picture of you. You were a tiny little fluff that with the most adorable eyes. I begged mom for days to get you. Mom warned me that Boarder Collie/Australian shepards would have high energy and demand a lot of time. As a young child myself, I had the demeanor of a human operating on three espresso shots an hour.

It wasn't long before you entered my life, a ball of energy and sharp teeth. Our connection was instant. Unfortunately for mom and dad, we were like a hurricane racing through the house and leaving no survivors.

Eight TV remotes, twelve pairs of shoes and a lap top cord later, you had grown into the most well behaved dog, and my best friend. Those around you fondly knew you as the "forgotten" dog, as you were always where you needed to be and when you needed to be there.

Growing up with you by my side has been an honor. Watching TV curled on the floor together, going for rides in my truck along the countryside, and even cuddling on the grass watching a rugby game, we were never far apart. When my ego needed a check, I could always count on you to give me a good little growl and snap me out of the clouds.

I miss you so much, little girl. Your collar hangs on the rear view of my truck so you're always there for those long drives when I need you most. I live my life trying to view the world through your eyes and see the greatness in the small, most ordinary thing. I hope that one day, I am the human you thought I was.

I love you, little girl. Rest in peace.
