I wasn't seeking a companion, but when someone told me that a 6 week old kitten was tied to a brick with string in someone's basement, I said "I'll be over to pick her up today". There was a small group of people present that day, and when this "little" girl was let loose, she bee-lined for me and climbed straight up my clothing to my face... she chose me. We have been together for 14 years now and still have so much to say to each other. We engage in conversations about our days (even though I watch hers through the petcam) and sleep together at night. She cries when my boyfriend or I are in the shower and only stops when the other brings her into the bathroom so she can see that we are ok. I suppose she can't understand how anyone would want to stand under running water... She has taught a number of "dog people" that cats are full of personality, humour and love. Lots and lots of love!!! I would definitely adopt more rescue babies, if only Sumi would allow it. Which she will not.
