Animal BioConnor came to us from Williams Lake - through the West Van BCSPSA. He was found thumbing (pawing) a ride at the William's Lake truck stop, and a kind trucker picked him up and brought him in. He was high-tailing it outta there on a grand adventure. He's been with us for just over 5 years now, and he has really changed our lives. He is a gentle soul in the body of a beast - and has several times scared local hikers behind trees as they think he is a bear. But when they get up close to him they see his kind eyes and big smile. That smile!
Recently we moved up to Robert's Creek where he is getting to explore some more off the grid wild areas - which he is digging. He also loves the occasional neck rub in otter poo. Which we are not digging so much. But a rinse in river water, and a few days of off-gassing and he's back to mostly normal scent.
Connor has a bunch of nicknames - some of which he loves and others that he looks at us with a sideways glance showing the whites of his eyes. Connor Bonnor. This nickname is from the announcer on the CBC - Susan Bonnor. After hearing her say her name on many afternoon radio shows we thought that Connor Bonnor has a nice ring. This one he puts up with. Connor Bonnor-ooskio. He puts up with this one only on Sunday mornings when he is smelling bacon. Mr. Big Nose. Connor has an exceptionally long snout. Yes, snout. It's easy to forget until coming across another dog of the same breed (mutt - collie, lab, husky, german shepherd?) which has the same fine looks but a much shorter schnozz. We love it. Mr. Tipple Toes. Connor's toenails are kept short from daily hikes, but they still have a charming tic-tac on the floor in our house that has granted him this nickname. He's a 5/10 on this one. Littlejaw. As mentioned before, one of Connor's nicknames is Mr. Big Nose. Conversely he is also known as Littlejaw as the snout to jaw ratio either makes one look larger or the other look smaller. This little jaw syndrome makes it hard for him to pick up flat items such as frisbees off the ground, but he is a wicked tossed frisbee catcher. Littlejaw catches the frisbee low, high, and even when his people toss it totally crappy.
Connor loves: raw meat - especially bone marrow and lamb neck, girl dogs, boy dogs, clearing log debris from rivers, ear rubs and ear-wax licks, mice, and long walks on the beach.
Connor hates: thunder, firecrackers, and hallowe'en. That's it.
So - that's our pup (or young adult grown male dog) in a nutshell!
