Animal BioMaggie had a love for life, everything was done to the extreme. At the age of 6 months she was surrendered to the SPCA with a stable pelvic fracture after being hit by a car.
She came into our lives as a foster dog with the intent of permenent adoption once her injuires had healed and she was spayed. With six weeks of crate rest for a 6 month old we thought she was going to be little nightmare, but she wasn't.
The weekend before she was to be spayed she she displayed signs of pregnancy. Not only did she fool her furever parents she convinced the SPCA and the vetrenarian that she was expecting and soon!. The pregnancy proved to be false(BIG SIGH OF RELIEF), she was just so hysterically happy to be in her new furever home. And folks, thats how life was with Maggie extremely, hysterically and full of joy.
She hated boats, her sweater, water over her chest, smoke and rain. She loved all human beings, the beach, her crack ball, sleeping, camping and the list goes on as long as rain was not involved.
Maggie was smart she responded to hand signals and was working on learning her left and right commands. She was fascinated by tunnels and could often be found walking under the road at her grandfathers.
Sometimes Maggie's head was just too heavy for her to hold up and she had to.rest it on the coffee table while laying on the couch. It was tough work.making sure the furniture stayed put.
Christmas was a favourite time of the year and present opening was Maggie's official job each year. She would tenderly rip a piece of paper off of the gift and spit it out and go back to take another strip off of the gift.
Maggie had two homes (furever parents and grandparents) that she moved between so that she was not alone at home while her furever parents worked. She would get anxious if "tradeover"didn't occur on the right day. Always excited to see what was going on at the next house she happily transitioned between each home.
Maggie loved children and new that the term "baby" meant she had to be extra soft.and careful. If you were an adult and she felt that you weren't paying her enough attention then her Boxer genes would be brought to the forefront and she could have given Ali a run for his money.
As in life Maggie's last day was a day of extremes. She was exteremely happy that the sun was up in that morning. At lunch time she started to display signs of pain. Her pain increased at an extreme pace as vets raced to help her. Maggie passed away due to a bacterial infection that no one knew she had. Her love of life in the end was part of why her life was cut too short.
We lost our beloved Maggie in January 2018 and our lives have not been the same since.
