Buick, a big male cat, --was a comical character. He endeared himself to all-and-sundry who chanced upon him. . . Initially a farmland stray, he adopted me, my friends, --and the barnyard property as if it was where he was always born-to-be.

Buddies forever, I was his Calvin; he was my Hobbes!

Stealthy, I was careful not to arouse him while he was aslumber on my living room floor. Wearing this beautific smile, he was no doubt dreaming of all the mice he would catch on the morrow. The whir of the Polariod camera could hardly rouse him from these sweet mousey slumbers. . .

Friends and fans petitioned for copies of this portrait.

I was soon astounded to find an enlarged Buick image grinning back at me from the front page of newspapers on local newsstands, as if I were looking at "America's Most Wanted." Apparently, a photo recipient had submitted his copy to a local newspaper and it became published on all the newspapers.

Sadly, Buick is no longer with us. His disappearance left a hole in the hearts of all those who loved him.
