We adopted Russell in a couple days before Christmas last year. We origninally went to the SPCA to look at a different cat, but I couldn’t resist the black panther purring in the other cage. He was found as a stray, but didn’t seem to mind me gently petting his head. The ladies at the local SPCA told us that he would most likely not be a cuddly or friendly cat and they weren’t sure if he would ever be okay with being held. After two days, Russell was sleeping on my bed with me. After only two weeks, Russell had charge of the house, including the dogs. Today, Russell acts as one of the dogs, waiting patiently for his treat beside them. He does not mind me kissing his head or giving him a great big hug. He hates to be left out of things and will meow at the door of wherever he is if he thinks he is being left out. We could not ask for a better family member.
