There in our back yard we saw this white puss come out from the bush. The first day we thought she was visiting the neighbourhood, the next day the same thought crossed our minds. The third day we decided to take some cat food to her. As soon as we walked away she ran to eat. We began to feed her and did for months. Over the months we tried to pet her but she would not allow us to do so. We later learned that two years before her owner moved away and left her behind. For months another neighbour tried to bring her into their home and she was in their home for several months until that owner got a dog. This kitty was terrified of dogs so she stayed away from the house and decided to visit our back yard. To make a long story short, we slowly worked on Cottontail coming closer to the house and she did and slowly I introduced petting her. One day she came to the front of the house to eat, I petted her and found bleeding scabs on her ears. Next day, I grabbed her and wrapped her in a towel. We rushed her to the vet where we learned she had cancer on the tips of her ears. Plus she had a pin in her chin from previous surgery. The previous owner never took her back to the vet to have the pin removed. This poor kitty had ongoing infections. The pain she must have gone through. We told the vet we were going to take this kitty in and make her part of our family.... and we did. Two days later we took her back to the vet to have the cancer removed. The vet removed the tips of her ears. The vet thought that we make not want to accept her new look. We told the vet this kitty deserved a comfortable loving home and we were going to provide just that regardless of her looks. To our surprise even with no ear tips she was beautiful. Three weeks after the surgery we took her back for a medical check up. The vet did not recognize her. After we bathed her, she looked completely different. Her coat turned bright white, her fur was extremely soft. She allowed to be brushed and all. She was sweet, beautiful and very loving. (Note: No SPCA Facility was av. in our city)
