Animal Bio
Mack is a West Vancouver S.P.C.A. rescue, who I adopted in 1997 when I'd been out for a walk at Ambleside. I'd worked there in 1979 and popped in to say hello to my old Boss, and tell her the Calico I'd rescued from there in '79 was still with me and doing well. She said "guess what I've got!" and brought Mack out, who was 5 weeks old, and had just had the rest of her family, Mummy included, adopted away from her a couple of days before - well, if ever there had been a "meant to be" moment in my life, this was it - she was coming home with me to her W.V.S.P.C.A. Sister Calico, Sarah Leigh! Mack (which is an acronym for 4 old friends: Michelle, Andrea, Cathy & Kay) kept Sarah lively until 2001 when she crossed the Rainbow Bridge at 22 years old - Mack will be 21 in a couple of months (on June 4) - she went deaf a few years ago, but I've always taught my cats hand signals since they were kittens (no, really!) so we communicate as well as ever. She spends her days on her little sofa in front of the fireplace, lets me know with a yowl when she wants to head for bed - and leads the way down the hall with Kismet (my other Rescue kitty) following along behind. After each of them has taken a 15-minute turn stretched out on my chest for some cuddles, strokes and a chat about our day, Mack curls up in her pillow-sized cat-bed that's right beside my pillow, Kismet in her matching one at the foot of the bed.....and I fall asleep with the best tranquilizer under the sun - the soothing sound of stereo purring!!
