Animal BioI adopted sweet, old Louie from the Vernon branch, where I work. He came in as a stray, drooling, skinny, and next to no fur on his body. Quickly we found out he had dental issues, minor heart murmur, and hyperthyroidism. You would never know he was in such rough shape based on his personality. He was so friendly, and playful for an old fella (Est. 12 years old). I brought the senior home and wanted him to have the best retirement home possible. He enjoyed his queen sized bed with heated mattress pad, watching chirping bird videos on the big screen, and playing with flirt pole type toys was his favorite. He would bat the ball on the end of the string like he was playing tether ball. When sitting in the bedroom window wasn't cutting it, we would put him in his harness and talk walks on the property. He really loved smelling that fresh air. He had the biggest, drooly purr with was always accompanied by strong kneading and the best snuggles. We got him on great food, the right meds, and lots of love, and his fur had started to grow back nicely.
We sadly lost this sweet soul to a heart attack just 7 weeks after adopting him. He has forever left a mark on our hearts, and I miss him every day. We were so lucky to be able to love him while we had him.
