Lacey came to us three years ago as a stray, meowing at our door for us to let her in. It was winter, she was very cold and very skinny. After many phone calls to SPCA and posters all around the neighborhood for several months we had no luck in finding her owner, so, by this time we became really attached and decided to keep her. We took her to the Vet for a complete checkup and then discovered she had a tattoo in her ear. Sadly, our Vet said that he had to try to put it through the Database to see what came up. So, they did discover the Owner and apparently Lacey had been missing for several months. I was torn between happy for them but sad for me and my family because we had formed a real bond with her. When the Owner showed up to the Vets to pick her up, they realized how much she meant to us and how happy she seemed, so they decided we could keep her and gave up their ownership of her. Not sure how they could do that but I wasn't about to say anything but "THANK YOU!" Our Vet staff were also happy for us!
She's been with us ever since and we love her with all our hearts and so thankful that she made her way to our doorstep that cold November night.
